The Cliffs at Hocking hill sits on 100 acres directly adjacent to some of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the Midwest. Cantwell Lodge + The Swimming Hole are located on a 10 acre section of the property that is private and accessible only to Cantwell Lodge guests.

Located on the opposite end of our 100 acre property are the bungalows and Sandstone Falls, accessible only to bungalow guests. Adjacent to Sandstone Falls there are three 2-bedroom bungalows, each with their own private deck, hot tub, and stunning views of nature. Our 3-bedroom bungalow, which is currently under construction and available to rent starting May 30, 2025, is a short boardwalk stroll to Sandstone Falls as well, but is private from the existing 2-bedroom bungalows. It also has a private hot tub and deck. We plan to add 4 studio bungalows in the coming years. Each of our bungalows has access to Sandstone Falls and The Lookout, which is a common building overlooking the falls.

Cantwell Lodge can accommodate a maximum of 18 guests. Our 3-BR Bungalow, currently under construction, can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests. And our three 2-Bedroom Bungalows can each accommodate 4 guests.

Guests at the bungalows will not have any access to the private waterfall and swimming hole at Cantwell Lodge. However the bungalows are adjacent to Sandstone Falls, which is the newest addition at The Cliffs. This natural swimming pond is built into the sandstone cliffs and contains a series of waterfalls.

Guest check in is at 4 PM and check out is at 11 AM. You will receive instructions and an electronic code to unlock the door in your welcome materials. Unfortunately we’re unable to accommodate late check out or early check in.

We limit check in and check out days to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for all of our dwelling. There is no limit on the length of reservation subject to availability. As open dates approach we may allow for a check in or check out on an alternative day.

Guests will receive a full refund if their reservation is canceled in writing within 48 hours of booking and at least 30 days prior to their reservation.

If a reservation is not cancelled, in writing, within 48 hours of booking, the 50% deposit becomes non-refundable. After that, guests can cancel up to 45 days before their reservation and will not be responsible for their remaining 50% balance. Within 45 days of their reservation, all payments become non-refundable.

We understand that there are circumstances in which guests need to cancel. We will make every attempt to re-book their dates. If their dates are rebooked successfully, we will issue a refund of all payments made, minus a 3.5% processing fee.

All reservations require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be due 45 days prior to arrival. Reservations made within 45 days of arrival will require full payment at the time of booking.

Our dwellings often sell out far in advance. Currently our calendar is open through the end of 2025. Between June and August of 2025 there is currently no availability at Cantwell Lodge or our 2-BR Bungalows. However we will soon open up our 3-BR bungalow calendar as well as 2026 and beyond. In the meantime consider booking one of our off-season nights. The Cliffs is a beautiful destination any time of the year! Be sure to sign up for our email list for any updates on calendar openings.

Since we’re not a wedding or event venue, we are unable to offer many of the amenities that an event venue would be able to provide. Cantwell Lodge can be available for intimate weddings or for guests who are staying at the lodge if there are available dates that work for you. There is a strict 18 guest capacity including children aged 24 months and older. Wedding guests would be limited to individuals who are included in the reservation with the only exceptions being an officiant, photographer and caterer (if needed). We are unable to accommodate advance site visits, a DJ, or additional service providers.

The Cliffs is located in Rockbridge, OH within a few minutes of Cantwell Cliffs and just 45 minutes outside of Columbus, OH. The property is 10 minutes from Kroger or Walmart in Logan, OH and a short drive to numerous hiking destinations. We only give the exact address of the property to staying guests.

The Cliffs has a strict no pets policy.

All unsupervised guests must be 25 years of age or older for Cantwell Lodge and 21 years of age or older for our bungalows.

The property is not child-proofed or child-friendly. We have many guests stay with children, but it’s important for children to be supervised during their stay. The terrain around the dwellings is beautiful but it is unsafe for unsupervised children.

For guests inclined to explore The Hocking Hills area there are numerous activities available. The property is minutes from Cantwell Cliffs and not far from Rock House, Conkle’s Hollow, Old Man’s Cave, and Ash Cave. Many other activities like zip lining, mini golf, horse back riding, canoeing, and fishing are also available nearby.

The 2-bedroom bungalows are situated close together but oriented for maximum privacy including the outdoor deck and hot tub. The 3-bedroom bungalow is in its own private area and accessible to Sandstone Falls by a scenic boardwalk.

The bungalows are accessible from their parking areas by boardwalk and a set of staircases. Unfortunately ramp access is not possible. We hope to open accessible units in the coming years.

All three 2-bedroom bungalows are identical. They each contain a king bedroom, a smaller queen bedroom, and one bathroom. They each have a deck with a sunken hot tub, fire pit, and gorgeous views!

The 3-bedroom bungalow has a large living room with picture windows overlooking the forest as well as an outdoor living space, hot tub, and fire pit. Adjacent to the living area and kitchen there is a king bedroom with a private bathroom, a cinema room, and another king bedroom and double twin bedroom that share a bathroom.

All three two-bedroom bungalows are located next to one another with approximately 15’ of space between each dwelling. Although they are close together they are oriented for maximum privacy while inside the bungalow or enjoying the outdoor space.

The 3-bedroom bungalow is located is on the other side of Sandstone Falls in its own private area with dedicated parking and access to Sandstone falls by boardwalk.

The entire Cliffs property is nearly 100 acres. We’re currently working to build out over 2 miles of trails that all guests at The Cliffs can enjoy.

Fo the 2-bedroom bungalows we provide a small kitchen that contains a range, dishwasher, cookware, a high-end coffee maker and beans, and everything else that most guests will require. The 3-bedroom bungalow has a full service kitchen and is more suitable to cooking large meals.

We provide all bedding and towels along with extras for our guests. The Bungalows are equipped with satellite internet and an entertainment setup with streaming services.

There is a gas grill at the Lookout that is accessible to all bungalow guests.

Yes! We have recently opened Sandstone Falls, which is a completely unique natural swimming pond built into the gorgeous sandstone on our property. There is a large deck surrounding the falls as well as a sauna. The Lookout is an 800 square foot common building overlooking The Falls. Sandstone Falls and The Lookout are adjacent to the bungalows.

Sandstone Falls is open from May-October. However because of the integration with the stone and waterfalls guests should not expect a swimmable temperature in the cooler months, particularly May & October. In the cooler months you can think of Sandstone Falls as a completely unique cold plunge experience. Even in the summer months, the water may be cool depending on the weather.

We have a strict guest count of 4 people for each 2-bedroom bungalow and 6 people for our 3-bedroom bungalow. This includes all guests aged 24 months and older.

We provide a fully stocked kitchen with double ovens, two dishwashers, cookware, a high end coffee maker and beans, electric griddles, microwave, and everything else that most guests will require.

We provide all beddings and towels along with extras for our guests.

The lodge is equipped with Starlink internet and several TVs with Hulu Live and Netflix. We’ve worked to provide the best internet experience possible in our location. With that said, internet speeds can vary depending on network usage and satellite locations. For most guests the internet will work well and allow them to stream HD video without issue. However both audio and video calls will experience intermittent dropouts.

On the first story of the lodge you’ll find a large living room that includes an extra large sectional, 65” TV, and a dining room table for 12 that easily converts into a ping pong table. Additionally there is a kitchen, a den, master bedroom and bathroom, a queen bedroom, two additional full bathrooms, and a half bathroom attached to the living room.

There is an open loft on top of the den with four additional twin beds and a queen bed.

On the second story you’ll find a king bedroom and a queen bedroom as well as a shared full bathroom.

The glamping bunker/basement is home to a room with a queen bed, another room with a full bed, a sitting area, and a full bathroom. The Glamping Bunker has concrete floors, painted cinder block walls, and painted wood ceilings. We’ve made it cozy with plenty of rugs and comfortable bedding, but it is much more industrial than the rest of the lodge and not for everyone. There are no windows in either bedroom. There is an emergency exit door through the full bedroom and utility room.

The game room is a converted garage and contains some arcade games, foosball, air hockey, and a sitting area. This is a great place for kids or teenagers. The primary entrance/exit for the game room is through the glass garage door. However the living room end table slides out to reveal a secret entrance into the game room. Kids will love this. Think of it more as a ladder than a staircase as it’s a tight fit. If you’re over 6’1” and 200 lbs it will be a very tight squeeze.

There are two seasonal waterfalls on the property. We were able to dam up the seasonal waterfall closest to the lodge and create a unique swimming experience. Think of it as a small pond and not as a swimming pool. It’s 4.5’ deep at its deepest point.

We cannot guarantee the condition of the water as there is debris and dirt that comes into the swimming hole naturally.

The swimming hole is open for swimming from May 1 through October 31. However, the water temperature will most likely be ice-bath cold in May and October.

The waterfall runs seasonally in the winter and spring on its own. We’ve worked to improve our pumping system so that the waterfall runs now in all seasons. Mechanical failures of our pumping system can happen, but otherwise you can expect the waterfall to be running regardless of what season you are staying.
